Nuer History

The contemporary Nuer do not know the true origin of the Nuer that can link up to their common ancestors’ origin with the other Nilotic groups. However, oral Nuer tradition and anthropologists suggest that the Nuer and other Nilotic people of South Sudan have lived for centuries in the Nile valley around 1600 and 3372 BCE. This is the reason, the author, Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang discusses in this book, the social structure of contemporary Nuer that may link up to the patrilineal lineages of the major Nuer segments or clans.
