JAN: Just-A-Note Explores is an editing firm that believes in the value of authors’ original notes that birth books. These notes can be of little meaning at first, but they give the author a sense of ownership of their work.

Jan Explore was thus established in 2015 to reassure authors seeking for editing services that they can explore how much their ideas can boost their confidence in book publishing. Editing process has the power to nurture an author into becoming professionals in their writing field. This can only be made possible if the editor honors the author’s work, by maintaining its originality and ensuring the end product reflects the author’s desire.  

The founder (Ruth Omondi) who has 12 years’ experience in book editing, has since her first encounter with potential authors learnt that many of first time authors lose their confidence because they either lose their manuscripts to cons or get an overcharge for work that is not worth the investment.

She therefore made it her mission to do her work differently by creating a professional working environment that enables the client to maintain the original idea – first notes– and together with the author explore solutions to evade the numerous editing challenges before printing.

The approach has since given the authors the confidence that no matter the status of their manuscripts, or book ideas, they can through patience and diligence achieve their publishing goals beyond their expectations.
