Discover the author within. Find your voice. Build your path.
Author Discovery
Author mentorship is about becoming more of who you are
The world does not need more authors who sound like everyone else. It needs authentic voices, fresh perspectives and authors who know why they write, who they are writing for and what they want their work to accomplish. You will be encouraged to look beyond the next manuscript and consider:
Who am I as an author?
What do I uniquely bring?
Who do I want to serve?
Where am I going?
And what can I build from what I already have?

I met Ruth Omondi through Jan Explores when I was looking for an editor for my short stories. Meeting her has been a game-changer; it made me realize that talent isn’t enough, though it is necessary. To be a successful published writer, you need to do the legwork.
Being mentored by Ruth has grounded me, helping me understand which genre I lean toward as a writer, and this has made my writing more pronounced. What I like about her mentorship is that you don’t feel like you are losing your voice; instead, you become more confident in it.
I have never seen a person so patient, or someone who believes in your craft more than you do. I believe she has an eye for talent, but she is also a people person who is deeply dedicated to introducing Kenyan writers to the world.
